The first two Silent Hill mobile games did a good job of recreating the themes and mood of a console Silent Hill in a mobile point and click adventure. With Silent Hill Mobile 3, as expected it adds tweaks to the previous two to deliver yet another chilling adventure to the thumbs, but fails to deliver anything new.
Once again the game is based around navigating through eerie deserted corridors and rooms and clicking on objects. Occasionally you'll be able to pick up an object that'll have no instant use, but will be used in a puzzle at some point in the game. This goes on for quite some time before the game finds its stride and becomes more enjoyable.
Rather than control the character like you do in the console versions, instead you're controlling a cursor and moving forwards, backwards, left or right around maze like corridors. You'll often lose your bearings as you move as it can be confusing when the screen changes. You do get the map early on however, but switching to the map every few steps doesn't exactly define the word fun.

Can the word 'fun' be used to describe any horror game though? The idea is to give you the creeps, build tension and scare you when you least expect it, and SHM3 does this very well. The details in SHM3 are very nicely done, with the iconic rusty and blood stained walls, and wire and fans 'elegantly' representing the general look of Silent hill, which always adds to the creepiness.
It's when you enter the other world, Silent Hell that the exploration and puzzle solving turns more to combat. Like the previous two mobile games this consists of a cursor shaking across the screen and it's your task to line it up on the beast and slay it. Unlike the previous two, the monsters come with a special weak spot, when activated, you need to press '5' when two moving crosshairs match up. The combat represents nicely how a normal human with a gun in a monstrous situation would act.
In this outing you once again play as Vincent, who navigated and fought his way through the hospital in Silent Hill Mobile 2. He's now found himself in an abandoned and eerie mansion, which to be fair looks like yet another abandoned and eerie hospital! The plot is equally as engaging as the other games and if you give it a chance you'll be in for some shocks and twists, which does connect to the previous outings.

With the same exploration, the same jerky and convincing combat and yet another engaging plot, it's easy to recommend Silent Hill Mobile 3 as much as parts one and two. Sadly, yet again it's not the type of game where you can plug in the headphones to make the most of the atmosphere, as the sound is very minimal, but it still doesn't prevent the game as a whole from drawing you in and giving you the creeps.
